Radiology Unit

This unit performs radiological investigations of inward and clinic patients. They do X-rays, ultrasound scans, echocardiograms and CTs. A consultant cardiologist visits the hospital weekly to provide the specialized service. The new CT unit caters for the facility for neighbouring hospitals.

Pharmacy

The pharmacy is departmentalized into two as outdoor and indoor. The outdoor pharmacy supplies the medicines for OPD and clinic patients. The indoor pharmacy supplies the needs of inward patients. Blood Bank

Blood Bank plays a major role in the management of Dengue patients, ICU patients and certain other patients. It is manned by a well-trained staff who provides 24-hour service to the hospital.

Physiotherapy Unit

The physiotherapy unit is another strength of NIID. It is manned by three physiotherapists who provide service to the inward patients as well as outdoor patients. The unit is well-equipped and provides service to a large number of patients. In 2023 they have seen 8279 patients.

Infection Control Unit

This unit is headed by a consultant Microbiologist. Two nursing officers are allocated to this unit and they perform their infection control activities of the hospital. They summarize the progress of the infection control activities once a quarter in an infection control meeting.

Medico Legal Complex

This is another developed arm of the hospital. The infrastructure is well-built to store the cadavers of infectious diseases and a safer area to perform pathological or judicial postmortems of any dead body. A consultant JMO visits the hospital in need.

Central Sterilization And Supplies Division (CSSD)

One of the most important units of the hospital. This unit plays a vital role in preventing cross-infections. All the ICU linen and some reusable instruments are sterilized.

This is to provide a relevant healthy, hygienically cooked diet to the inward patients. As a government hospital diet services provide meals to patients as well as health care aids of the hospital.

Transport Service

This service is to provide transport to the needy sick, to transport material needed for patient care and to transport of personnel needed for urgent patient care. Types of transport facilities available are ambulances, a jeep, a car, a double cab and a tractor.
